Grit/Salt Bins

Six strategic grit/salt bins are supplied by the Town Council and maintained by Dorset Council as the Highways Authority are located in the following locations:

  • Towers Way public car park, next to Corfe Mullen library
  • 2 on Hanham Road
  • Highmoor Close (located in the cul-de-sac turning circle green space)
  • 2 on Hillside Road/Wyatts Lane

Dorset Council as the Highways Authority replenish the grit/salt as part of their winter programme.  Dorset Council Highways are also responsible for maintaining the highways, including any winter treatment it sees fit.  Requests for siting of grit/salt bin(s) and determining whether its a community or strategic grit/salt bin(s) are made by Dorset Council Highways.

The Town Council does not provide community grit/salt bin(s) in the village.  Community grit bins are replenished by Dorset Council Highways at the start of each winter free of charge.

Bus Shelters

The Town Council have installed bus shelters around the village for bus users.  We currently own and maintain the following bus shelters:

  • Windgreen roundabout, Wareham Road (south/northbound)
  • Wareham Road by the junction of Corfe View Road
  • Wimborne Road by the Lambs Green Inn

Requests for bus shelters are assessed by the Town Council on a case by case basis.  Should any requested be supported, the installation of a bus shelter would be subject to consultation by, and permission from, Dorset Council Highways.  It is important to remember, not all bus stops are suitable for bus shelters, due to width restrictions or visibility issues.
